Privacy notice

Updated 17 August 2026 · Applies to idleexam.com · Australia

1. Who runs this site

IdleExam is an independent editorial project published in Australia. It reviews free-to-play casual games available on Google Play. IdleExam is the entity responsible for the personal information handled through the domain idleexam.com and can be reached at desk@idleexam.com.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This notice explains what we collect, why we hold it, who else sees it and how you can ask us to change or delete it.

2. What we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Reading list details. The email address you enter in the subscription form, an optional first name, and a record that you ticked the consent box, together with the date and time.
  • Correspondence. Anything you choose to write to us by email, including the address you write from.
  • Plan preferences. If you select a paid reader plan, we note which plan you asked about so we can contact you when billing opens. No card or bank details are collected on this site.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Server and delivery logs. IP address, user agent, requested address, referring page, time of the request and basic error information. These are produced by our hosting and content delivery providers.
  • Cookies and similar storage. Small values kept in your browser, described in full in our cookie notice.
  • Notification identifiers. If you allow browser notifications, OneSignal creates a subscription identifier tied to your browser installation, along with the browser type, operating system, language and approximate region derived from the network address.
  • Aggregate usage statistics. Page views and general traffic patterns, used only in aggregate form.

We do not collect telephone numbers, postal addresses, government identifiers or payment instruments through this website, and we do not ask for sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act.

3. Why we hold it

4. How long we keep it

  • Reading list details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and for up to twelve months afterwards as a record of the consent that was given.
  • Notification identifiers: until you revoke the browser permission or the identifier stops responding, after which OneSignal removes it.
  • Server and delivery logs: normally up to twelve months, unless a longer period is needed to investigate a specific security incident.
  • Correspondence: up to twenty-four months after the conversation ends.
  • Cookies and similar storage: the periods listed in the cookie notice.

5. Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information and we do not share reading list addresses with other publishers. Information is disclosed only to the service providers we need in order to run the site:

  • Hosting and content delivery. Serving the pages and images, filtering malicious traffic, keeping request logs.
  • OneSignal. Processing browser notification subscriptions and newsletter addresses on our instruction.
  • Advertising partners. Where a promotional link or advertising unit appears, the partner may receive standard request information such as the network address and browser type.
  • Professional advisers and authorities. Only where we are required by Australian law to disclose information.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where personal information is disclosed to an overseas recipient we take reasonable steps, as required by APP 8, to satisfy ourselves that the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Direct marketing

The only marketing we send is our own newsletter and the browser notifications you have allowed. Every message contains a way to stop receiving further messages, and you may also write to the desk to be removed. We do not use your details to advertise other companies' products by email, and we do not provide them to anyone for that purpose.

7. Reader plans and payment

The paid reader plans described on the home page are subscriptions to editorial content on this website. Billing is not yet open: our payment provider is in the activation stage, so this site collects no card numbers, no bank details and no billing addresses. When billing opens, payment details will be handled by the payment provider under its own privacy terms, and we will hold only the plan name, the term, the status of the subscription and the receipts we are required to keep for taxation purposes.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold personal information about you and give you access to it (APP 12);
  • correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading (APP 13);
  • stop sending you direct marketing, or revoke a consent you previously gave;
  • delete details we no longer need to keep.

Write to desk@idleexam.com and we will respond within thirty days. There is no charge for making a request, and we will not ask you to justify it.

9. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact the desk first so we can look into it — we aim to answer complaints within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the national privacy regulator, at oaic.gov.au or by telephone on 1300 363 992.

10. Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to the reading list is limited to the editors who need it and is protected by individual accounts with multi-factor sign-in. No online service can promise perfect protection, so we keep the amount of information we hold deliberately small: an address, an optional name and a consent record.

11. Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to the desk and we will remove the entry.

12. Changes to this notice

When this notice changes we update the date at the top of the page and, for material changes, describe the change in the next dispatch. Continued use of the site after an update means the current version applies.

Effective from 17 August 2026. Editorial contact: desk@idleexam.com.
